Zan News: The Afghanistan Women's Freedom Window Movement has declared any engagement with the Taliban as an "insult to humanity" and strongly rejected the statements made by Madina Mahboobi at the Doha side meeting.
In a statement released on Thursday (July 4), the movement stated: "The Afghanistan Women's Freedom Window Movement criticizes and protests against the remarks of Madina Mahboobi and several women who were invited to represent Afghan women at the Doha side meeting. We consider them not as our representatives but as lobbyists for the misogynistic Taliban, and we reject all their comments."
The statement adds: "The Taliban lack domestic legitimacy and over the past three years, their only achievements have been the murder and killing of people, depriving women and girls of the right to education and work, cutting salaries, closing schools, universities, baths, sports clubs, educational centers, and recreational facilities, imprisoning and torturing women's rights activists, silencing the voices of women and protesters, stripping them of decision-making power, mysterious killings, and creating a suffocating and oppressive atmosphere."
The Afghanistan Women's Freedom Window Movement further stated: "Despite the dire situation of Afghan women, Madina Mahboobi has made unjust and unfair statements advocating for the world's engagement with the Taliban, which is unacceptable to us women. We reject and condemn these comments in the strongest terms."
In conclusion, members of the Afghanistan Women's Freedom Window Movement emphasized, "As long as we have breath in our bodies, we will not cease our struggle against this misogynistic group."
This comes as Madina Mahboobi, a civil activist, emphasized the global community's engagement with the Taliban at the side meeting of the third Doha conference.
