This fund says that more than 70% of the small and medium-sized enterprises under its support are owned by women. ​ The Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan has also written that the work of the United Nations in Afghanistan is full of challenges, especially restrictions that affect the role of women in local and international NGOs. This comes amidst Taliban restrictions on women's employment in both government and non-governmental organizations.
