17-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide in Takhar

According to the sources, the incident occurred on Monday evening (December 16) in the "Khatayan" area of Taluqan, the capital of Takhar province.

The sources added that the girl took her own life because her family had engaged her to a man without her consent.

It has been reported that the Taliban transferred the girl’s body to the forensic department at the Takhar Provincial Hospital for further investigation.

However, Taliban officials in Takhar have yet to comment on the matter.

It is worth noting that cases of forced marriages and domestic violence against women have significantly increased since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.
