Zan News: Following the suspension of financial aid from the United States, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that over 9 million people in Afghanistan will be deprived of access to healthcare services.

In a press release issued on Wednesday (February 5), the agency announced that the operations of more than 600 mobile health teams, family health houses, and counseling centers in Afghanistan have been halted.

OCHA emphasized that this comes at a time when one mother in Afghanistan dies every hour due to preventable pregnancy-related complications.

The office added: "Without the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), more lives will be lost. At a time when the rights of Afghan women and girls are crumbling."

Additionally, OCHA noted that over 1.7 million people in Pakistan, including 1.2 million Afghan refugees, will be deprived of healthcare services.

This comes as the suspension of U.S. financial aid has posed significant challenges to aid organizations operating in Afghanistan.
