12-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide by Gunshot in Kandahar

Local sources in Kandahar reported to a media outlet that this incident occurred on Wednesday (24 July) in the village of "Lalak wa Zarak" in the Khakrez district of the province.

According to the sources, the girl shot herself at her home.

The reason for this act has not yet been determined, and the Taliban in Kandahar have not commented on the matter.

This incident comes as suicide cases, particularly among Afghan women and girls, have increased since the Taliban took over the country. Poverty, domestic violence, gender discrimination and hopelessness are the main factors of suicide among Afghan women and girls.

It is worth mentioning that yesterday, a young woman in Badakhshan province also committed suicide by ingesting rat poison, ending her life.
