27-Year-Old Woman Commits Suicide in Badakhshan

Local sources reported on Tuesday (July 23) that the woman, named Mozhgan, committed suicide on Monday in the second district of Faizabad, the capital of this province.

According to the sources, Mozhgan was married and had four children.

Zabihullah Amiri, head of information and culture for the Taliban in Badakhshan province, confirmed the woman's death and stated that family problems were the reason for her suicide.

Amiri said that Mozhgan ended her life by ingesting "rat poison."

This incident comes about a month after another 40-year-old woman in the province committed suicide by ingesting rat poison due to family problems.

It is noteworthy that since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, the rate of suicide among girls and women in the country has increased.
