A Young Man in Baghlan Kills His Mother with a Knife and Injures His Sister

A reliable source told the media that the incident occurred on Thursday night (November 28) in the Siyah Sang area of Khenjan district.

According to the source, a young man named Nazir attacked his mother and sister, resulting in his mother's death and his sister's injury.

The source stated that Nazir's motive for this act was his opposition to his sister’s marriage to their cousin.

The Taliban's Baghlan Police Command confirmed the incident and reported that the perpetrator has been arrested.

Sher Ahmad Burhani, spokesperson for the Taliban's Police Command in Baghlan, said: “Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was accused of moral corruption by her son.” However, the source refuted this claim.

The source added that Nazir, an economics student at Badakhshan University, is originally from Espich village in the Bano-yi Andarab district. Seventeen years ago, Nazir lost his father, and his mother later married his uncle. Nazir's stepsister was engaged to another cousin, but Nazir opposed the union.

This comes as several cases of domestic violence were reported in various provinces last week, resulting in the deaths of several women.
