Human Rights Activists Urge Trump to Take Responsibility for Afghanistan's Crisis

November 11, 2024

Zan News

Zan News: The "Fight for the Freedom of the Afghan People" network has issued a statement directed at Donald Trump, accompanied by a protest rally, urging him to take responsibility for the critical situation in Afghanistan, particularly the dire conditions faced by women and children under Taliban rule.

In its statement, the network stressed that the engagement and concession policies towards the Taliban, established during Trump’s presidency, have had "negative and profound" impacts on the lives and rights of the Afghan people, strengthening an undemocratic and oppressive regime. According to the network, these policies paved the way for widespread human rights violations and a regression of Afghan society.

Members of the network have called on Trump to cease supporting policies that promote recognition and engagement with the Taliban. They emphasized that "the Taliban, through continued violations of the basic rights and human dignity of the Afghan people, lack both national and international legitimacy and should not be bolstered by the global community."

The network also urged Trump to publicly support human rights organizations and advocate for the rights of women and children in Afghanistan, highlighting that Afghan women face severe social and educational restrictions and need immediate and practical support from the international community.

Furthermore, the network called for Trump to adopt effective policies to counter the Taliban's political and social repression instead of engaging with a "repressive" regime. These measures could include targeted sanctions against Taliban leaders and support for Afghanistan's civil and freedom movements.

The network appealed to Trump to ensure international oversight over the distribution of humanitarian aid and international assistance to the Afghan people, especially women and children, so that this aid reaches those in need without Taliban interference.

In conclusion, the "Fight for the Freedom of the Afghan People" network urged Trump to support international efforts and human rights organizations in pursuing peaceful and sustainable solutions that safeguard the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Afghan people, instead of reinforcing the Taliban.
