International Criminal Court Prosecutor Meets with Afghan Women Activists

Zan News: Karim Khan, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), met with several members of the "Afghanistan Women for Justice Coalition."
On Friday (December 6), the International Criminal Court issued a message on X, stating that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the ICC member states' conference in the Netherlands.
The court added that Karim Khan’s office, in collaboration with victims of gender-based violence and Afghanistan’s civil society, has prioritized taking action on crimes related to gender-based violence in Afghanistan.
It is worth mentioning that in his speech at the opening of the International Criminal Court member states' conference, Karim Khan emphasized that a request for an arrest warrant regarding Afghanistan's case would soon be presented. He had also previously referred to significant progress in the investigation of allegations of sexual and gender-based violence in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, countries such as Chile, Australia, France, Costa Rica, Luxembourg, and Mexico have referred the case of women's and girls' rights violations in Afghanistan to the International Criminal Court, urging the court to investigate the violations of women's and girls' rights following the Taliban's return to power in the country as part of its ongoing investigations into Afghanistan.
