Zan News: Monisa Hamdam Qarizada, a young journalist and the founder of the "Hamdam" monthly magazine, passed away on Thursday evening (January 9) at the age of 24 due to cancer in a hospital in Pakistan.
Ms. Qarizada, a member of the National Union of Journalists in Faryab province, founded the "Hamdam" monthly magazine eight years ago, which has been recognized as one of the most influential publications among women in Faryab.
Several journalists, cultural figures, and writers in Faryab have described her passing as a significant loss to the country's media community, especially in this province.
Qutbuddin Kohi, the head of the National Union of Journalists in Faryab, reacted to her passing by calling it an immense tragedy. In a Facebook post, he wrote, "I consider the passing of our dear sister, a modest and pen-in-hand colleague, a heartbreaking and irreplaceable loss for the press and the journalist family of Faryab."
Additionally, the Taliban's Directorate of Information and Culture in Faryab described her passing as a "great loss" in a post on its X account, though no image of Ms. Qarizada accompanied the message.
According to her relatives, her body is set to be transferred from Pakistan to Maimana today for burial.
It is worth noting that prior to this, Jawed Basharat, a freelance journalist and media activist from Baghlan province, also passed away recently at the age of 52 due to a heart attack.
