Zan News: In response to recent statements by Yahya Anabi, a pro-Taliban mullah in Panjshir, Muahra Barekzai strongly condemned mullahs and their pulpits as agents of violence against women and forced marriage of young girls.
In her protest video, she stated that women's bodies belong to themselves, and only they have the right to decide how to dress and display their bodies.
Muahra Barekzai emphasized that this is not the first time mullahs have violated the honor, freedom, and humanity of Afghan women. She said that women have always been subjected to assault, humiliation, and violence by mullahs and their pulpits.
She demonstrated her protest by burning her chador and tearing her sleeve, asserting that just as men have the right to choose their clothing, women should also have this right.
This strong reaction followed the release of a video by Mullah Yahya Anabi, a pro-Taliban in Panjshir, in which he reacted to a "non-hijab" photo of Zarmina Paryani, a woman protester who had been imprisoned by the Taliban. He decreed that she should be stripped naked in Kabul Square.
Anabi insisted in his speech that stripping freedom-seeking women in prison is not enough, and they should be stripped naked in the streets, in public, to serve as a lesson for other freedom-seeking women.
