Zan News - Kabul: Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada has ordered that female government employees who have been at home since the group's takeover be paid a monthly salary of 5,000 Afghanis.
his order from Akhundzada was communicated to government departments in a letter from the Taliban's Department of Administrative Affairs, and a copy of the letter has been leaked to the media.
The letter states that the salary of all government employees who were employed by the previous government and whose salaries are being paid by the Taliban government is set at 5,000 Afghanis.
The letter goes on to emphasize that female employees who are at home will receive a monthly salary of 5,000 Afghanis, but those who are still working will receive their full salary.
This order comes as the majority of female government employees have been at home and are unemployed since the Taliban took over. In some departments, such as passport and ID offices, female employees are still working.
The Taliban has also banned women from working in non-governmental organizations, including the United Nations. This comes at a time when female employees are the breadwinners of their families.
