Netherlands Contributes 15 Million Euros to Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund

September 22, 2024

Zan News

Zan News: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan has announced a contribution of 15 million euros (equivalent to 16.1 million dollars) from the Netherlands to Afghanistan.

On Sunday (September 22), OCHA shared in a message on the social media platform X that this amount has been donated to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund under Taliban rule.

According to OCHA, the Netherlands has provided over 89 million euros in aid to Afghanistan since 2016. The organization added, "The Netherlands, as the third-largest donor to Afghanistan, has contributed more than 89 million euros since 2016."

This announcement comes just a few days after OCHA reported a six-million-pound contribution from the UK to Afghanistan. Last month, the international body stated that only 25% of the 3.06 billion dollars required for Afghanistan in 2024 had been secured.
