Zan News: Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, has emphasized Pakistan's steadfast and clear position in support of the rights of women and girls, particularly their inherent right to education, in response to the Taliban's recent restrictions.
In a press conference, Zahra Baloch stated that Islam guarantees equal access to education and women's rights, and that the Pakistani Constitution also ensures these rights for women in the country. She further added, "We advocate for similar rights for women worldwide."
The Taliban's new law on the promotion of virtue and the prevention of vice, which deems even the women's voice as 'awrat', has sparked widespread reactions. UN experts have labeled this law as promoting "discrimination and oppression" and warned that it could lead to crimes against humanity.
During the press conference, Zahra Baloch also addressed the issue of terrorist groups based in Afghanistan, stating, "We have on numerous occasions provided evidence of the activities of these terrorist groups that have sanctuary within Afghanistan."
She urged the Taliban regime to take serious action against these "terrorist groups" and ensure that they do not use Afghan soil to plan terrorist attacks against Pakistan.
