Zan News: Local sources in Bamyan province say that the Taliban has closed local educational classes supported by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the province.
These sources said on Thursday (November 28) that the order to close these classes was issued by the Taliban's Education Department in Bamyan.
According to the sources, these educational classes, which were financially supported by UNICEF and implemented by the "Afghan Development" and "Watan Development & Initiative" organizations, were established to educate girls who had been deprived of schooling and students below the sixth grade.
The sources added that with the closure of these classes, hundreds of girls and boys who had been deprived of schooling are now denied education.
The reason for this action by the Taliban has not yet been clarified.
However, the Taliban had previously closed local educational classes supported by UNICEF and the Norwegian Refugee Council in Urozgan province. Additionally, similar classes in Helmand and Kandahar provinces have been closed by the group.
A source in Kandahar stated that the Taliban ordered the closure of these educational classes due to the teaching of subjects that were inconsistent with the group's guidelines.
It is important to note that under Taliban rule, women and girls in Afghanistan have been deprived of the right to education, and the group has revised the educational curriculum to align with its policies.
