December 16, 2024

Zan News

Zan News: The Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced that three individuals, including a woman, were publicly lashed in the Khuram and Sarbagh districts of Samangan province on charges of "running away from home."

In a statement released on Sunday (December 15), the court stated that one of the individuals was sentenced to two years in prison and 39 lashes, the second person to nine months in prison and 39 lashes, and the third person to 39 lashes only.

It is worth noting that since taking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have repeatedly punished citizens publicly for various reasons. Desert trials and corporal punishments, including lashing, have led to widespread human rights violations and drawn severe domestic and international criticism. Human rights organizations consider these actions contrary to humanitarian principles and international standards.
