Zan News: Two Afghan girls, Robina Azizi and Muzhda Akbari, have received the prestigious Diana Award 2024 for their efforts in advocating for the education of girls and women in Afghanistan.
This award, named after Princess Diana, one of the greatest supporters of humanitarian activities, is given to young leaders who have made a significant impact in bringing about positive change in the world.
Robina Azizi, the founder of "Path of Change," established this organization after leaving Afghanistan in 2023 to support girls who have been deprived of education. The organization, through campaigns for reopening schools and universities in Afghanistan, has impacted thousands of people worldwide.
In response to receiving this award, she said, "The Girls on the Path of Change movement is a testament to the leadership and dedication of countless volunteers who share our mission."
Mojda Akbari, the director of "CoodGreenAfg.org," also dedicated the award to the women of Afghanistan. She wrote on her Instagram account, "This award is not just for me, but for all the girls I fight for, my amazing team, and everyone who has supported me. I dedicate this honor to the strong women of Afghanistan who inspire me every day."
This achievement comes at a time when the Taliban, after taking control of Afghanistan, have imposed extensive restrictions on the lives of Afghan women. The group has closed girls' schools beyond the sixth grade and banned women from entering universities.
Additionally, last week, the Taliban leader closed medical institutions to Afghan women and girls, a move that has sparked widespread international reactions.
