Local sources in Nangarhar province say that a female doctor was shot dead by unknown armed men on the morning of Sunday (August 3) in the city of Jalalabad.
According to the sources, the 28-year-old doctor named “Zeba” worked in the gynecology and obstetrics department of Nangarhar Provincial Hospital. Around 8:30 AM, while she was waiting for her transport vehicle in the "Alfat Mina" area of the city’s seventh district, she was targeted by unknown gunmen and lost her life.
The family of the doctor stated that she had no personal enmity with anyone. This incident occurred near the Taliban's police headquarters in Nangarhar.
The Taliban’s police command has confirmed the incident and stated that the perpetrators managed to flee the scene. However, Taliban officials said that the motive for the killing is still unclear and that they have launched an investigation.
It is worth mentioning that after the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, incidents of killings have increased across various parts of the country. In many of these cases, the perpetrators are referred to as “unknown armed individuals” and few reports are published about their identification or prosecution.
