An explosion of explosives in a residential house in Bala Boluk district of Farah province claimed the lives of seven members of a family, including a woman and five children.

Fida Mohammad Sa’ad, the Taliban district governor of Bala Boluk, said in a press release that the incident took place on Monday (September 8) in Nowabad village.

According to him, the incident occurred when planted explosives in the house of a man named Jan Mohammad, known as “Malang Janan Qalandari,” detonated, killing him, his wife, and five of their children.

Local Taliban officials confirmed that one of the victims, who was critically injured, died while being transferred to the hospital.

This incident once again highlights that explosives directly threaten the lives of civilians, especially women and children. Due to decades of conflict in Afghanistan, many war-affected areas remain littered with landmines and unexploded ordnance, with women and children being the main victims.
