The Purple Saturdays Movement says that following the recent Israeli attacks on Iran, dozens of Afghan migrant families, especially protesting women and human rights activists, have been forced to leave their homes, particularly in Tehran, and seek refuge in other parts of the country.
In a statement released by the movement on Tuesday (June 17), it is stated that these migrants, who had previously fled to Iran to escape Taliban threats and save their lives, are now once again facing a critical and unsafe situation due to the recent tensions in the country.
According to the organization, many of these families lack access to basic necessities, including drinking water, food, and adequate shelter, and are living under dire humanitarian and security conditions.
The Purple Saturdays Movement has called on international organizations, particularly the United Nations office in Iran and human rights advocacy groups, to urgently provide shelter, security, and essential services to these migrants.
The statement also emphasized that targeting civilians is considered a war crime under the principles of international humanitarian law. The movement urged the international community to take effective measures to protect the lives of Afghan migrants and asylum seekers in Iran.
It also called on human rights activists in Afghanistan, Iran, and Israel to unite in solidarity and advocate for the protection of civilians.
