Three Members of a Family Shot Dead by Unknown Armed Men in Badakhshan

Local sources in Badakhshan province say that three members of a family, including a woman, have been shot dead by unknown armed men in Baharak district of the province.

The incident took place on Saturday night (11 July) in the village of Khairabad, Baharak district, and the victims included a man, his wife, and their son.

According to sources, the armed men entered the family’s home at midnight and, after a confrontation, killed the father, mother, and son by gunfire.

Local sources add that the family had recently earned around 200,000 Afghanis from selling potatoes, and the attackers took the money from beside the son’s bed after entering the house. During the victims’ resistance, they were shot.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the bodies of the victims were found in their home on Saturday morning. Taliban officials have not yet commented on the incident.

This comes as incidents of targeted and mysterious killings have increased across various parts of Afghanistan since the Taliban’s return to power.
